Why travel to Germany for hip replacement?

Patients considering hip replacement abroad are usually not simply looking for another hospital.

They are looking for expertise, safety, personal attention and a treatment concept they can trust.

At ENDOPROTHETICUM, hip replacement is one of our core specialties. Instead of navigating a large hospital system, international patients receive a personally coordinated treatment journey centered around their individual diagnosis and anatomy.

Our approach combines:

  • Specialized hip replacement surgery
  • Personal treatment by Prof. Kutzner
  • Modern minimally invasive surgical techniques
  • Particular expertise in short-stem hip replacement
  • Bone-preserving implant concepts where appropriate
  • Individual reconstruction of hip anatomy
  • Modern pain management and fast-track recovery
  • Private clinical treatment
  • Specialized postoperative rehabilitation
  • Accommodation close to the treating team
  • Personal support for international patients
  • Follow-up after returning home

Specialized Hip Replacement by Prof. Kutzner

Clinical experience meets scientific expertise

Prof. Dr. Karl Philipp Kutzner specializes in modern hip and knee arthroplasty.

A particular focus of his clinical and scientific work is calcar-guided short-stem total hip arthroplasty.

Modern short-stem implants are designed to preserve more of the natural femoral bone while allowing an individualized reconstruction of the hip. However, successful short-stem hip replacement requires a detailed understanding of anatomy, implant positioning and fixation.

Prof. Kutzner's scientific work includes research into individualized short-stem positioning and the development of the scientifically published Kutzner Classification for calcar-guided short-stem hip arthroplasty.

For the patient, the important question is not simply:

“Which hip implant is best?”

The more relevant question is:

“Which implant and which surgical strategy are best suited to my individual hip?”

This is the principle behind our treatment planning.

Minimally Invasive & Bone-Preserving Hip Replacement

Whenever medically appropriate, the aim is to minimize unnecessary trauma to muscles, soft tissues and bone.

Modern minimally invasive surgical approaches can support early mobilization and recovery. In suitable patients, a short-stem hip implant may additionally preserve more femoral bone than a conventional long stem.

However, not every patient requires the same implant.

Age, anatomy, bone quality, previous surgery, deformity and individual requirements are considered before deciding on the appropriate surgical technique and implant.

The implant follows the patient – not the other way around.

How long should I stay in Germany?

The required length of stay depends on the individual procedure and recovery.

For international patients, we generally recommend planning sufficient time not only for the operation itself, but also for postoperative recovery and rehabilitation before travelling home.

A typical Complete Hip Replacement journey can therefore combine the initial clinical stay with a subsequent recovery period in an ENDO-Apartment.

Your recommended length of stay will be included in your personal treatment plan.
